How to Go About Downloading ShowMax Movies to Watch On the Go

You can stream, but you can also download for those times

You may or may not know that you can download shows on ShowMax and watch them later. Well, for those of us without the knowledge, ShowMax lets its users download shows which are then saved on your device for up to 30 days from the day of download. However, once you press play, you have up to 48 hours to view the content. This measure is to ensure that you don’t fill up your storage with old shows.

You can also download up to 25 shows per account across all your devices. The beauty of downloading shows is that you can do this while on WiFi and enjoy the shows on the go or at home where you might not have WiFi and avoid spending your precious data.

A point to note; the ability to download content is currently available on compatible iOS devices (running iOS 8.4 and above) and Android phones and tablets that support Widevine Classic DRM (Android 3.0 and above). Downloads are not currently available on Samsung S7, Samsung A3s, Samsung A5s and a few devices running Android 7 Nougat as these do not support Widevine Classic DRM.

Anyway, downloading shows is as easy as ABC as long as you follow these simple steps:

Open the ShowMax app.

Select the show that you want, in this case we went with FRIENDS.

Tap on the episode that you wish to download to watch later and tap on the “DOWNLOAD” button.

A pop-up window will prompt you to select the quality you want to download, showing the corresponding size of the download. Select the one you wish to download.

Your download will start. You can confirm this on your notification shade.

Once the show has downloaded, you are free to watch it offline. Indicated by the “PLAY OFFLINE” button.

When you open the app while you’re offline, the app will take you directly to your downloaded shows. Thus you will not have to struggle trying to find your shows.

ShowMax is working on an update that will allow newer devices running Android Nougat and those that don’t support Widevine Classic to download shows, but this only affects a few devices meaning the chances of not being able to download are low.

Now head over to ShowMax.com and browse through the movies to watch this weekend!
