KFC, yes that same KFC that makes overpriced tasty chicken has decided to jump into the smartphone game. KFC has been in China for the past thirty years and to celebrate this milestone, the company teamed up with Huawei to make a smartphone.
Bad idea? I think not. A lot of people love chicken, especially extra crispy Kentucky Fried Chicken. Now combine that love of chicken with the love of our smartphones and you have a world-domination recipe.

The KFC phone, dubbed KFC Huawei 7 Plus, comes with a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage with Micro SD card support of up to 128GB memory expansion, Snapdragon 425 processor, a 3020mAh battery and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
The phone is red in color, with KFC’s founder Colonel Sanders face embossed on the back right below the fingerprint reader. Yes, Huawei had to make you aware who made the device and branded the phone at the front and back, classic Huawei.
KFC made the announcement of the device on Weibo, the post is in chinese and Google translate does little to help us understand what the company is saying.
Google translates it to:
# Kentucky China 30 years from 1987 to 2017, 30 years accompanied by the taste of the times, suck refers to the aftertaste! Kentucky together with Huawei joint cooperation, the introduction of Huawei Chang enjoy 7 Kentucky commemorative version of gorgeous struck! Commemorative Edition laser back carving, pre-installed Kentucky Super APP, with WOW member 10 thousand K gold, but also the first to experience k-music song function. Limited to 5000 will soon be on sale, waiting for you to grab!
Thanks to The Verge, we know that the word “suck” is a translation of KFC’s slogan, “finger-licking good” from Chinese. I can’t. I just can’t!
The highlight of the device is its in-built KFC-branded music app that will let users create and stream playlists at KFC outlets – That won’t go well. However, KFC and Huawei note that there are only 5,000 units of the KFC phone and it will be retailing at around $162 dollars which is more than a fair price.
Customer: I want a KFC Colonel bucket feast
KFC Attendant: Do you want a phone with that?
