The Nokia 8 is the current flagship of HMD Global’s lineup of smartphones and it has been 3 months since its announcement to the world. It has flagship specifications for a price lower than the other flagships, but one area where it shines the most is software.
It shipped with pure Android 7.1 Nougat which is great since it means that there is a possibility of getting faster updates to the latest Android iteration. The signs were there when they released the Android Orea Public Beta last month where you could download Oreo for use albeit it was not stable yet.
Well now, the rollout to Android 8.0 (Oreo is now official as announced by Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer for HMD Global via a tweet.
O k, here we go
R eviewed your feedback
E verything is polished
O fficial update rolling out today! #AndroidOreo #Nokia8 #Oreo #Nokiamobilebetalabs pic.twitter.com/QpZeh9JTu0— Juho Sarvikas (@sarvikas) November 24, 2017
The tweet is rather clever where he used the OREO acronym to announce the rollout where he claims they have reviewed feedback from people and now everything is polished up for use.
Android Oreo comes with some benefits to Nokia users. There is picture in picture mode which allows you to use two apps at once, notification dots to quickly see what’s new, 60 new emoji, adaptive icons, support for wide colour gamut for apps, faster boot up speed, minimized background activity and much more.
So if you have a Nokia 8, check out for the new update. Nokia 8 now joins the handful of phones that have been updated to Oreo like the Pixel phones and some Sony Xperia phones (XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact).
