Windows Phone is practically dead and you might know that since Microsoft decided to stop supporting the platform and focus on other ventures. They started with killing support for Windows Phone 8.1 months ago and now they are banging the final nails to the coffin.
On a Microsoft forum page, the company announced that they will turn off mobile push notification services for Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows 8.0 from February 20th this year, which is tomorrow.
This move will affect the phones running Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0 from receiving notifications, getting additional tile updates and the find my phone feature won’t work. However, Microsoft says that notification services will continue to function for Windows Phone 8.1, so if you are a user, you can breathe out a sigh of relief.
Microsoft says that they reason for the decision to end push notification services for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.0 is due to the fact that they had reached their end of support dates and they will be discontinued over time.
This will finally convince the pockets of users out there who have phones with this OS to upgrade or jump ship to other platforms, where the latter would be advisable. Microsoft still promises that phones with Windows Phone 8.1 have push notification support and Windows 10 Mobile are fully supported so if you are a diehard Windows Phone fan, you now have two options.
When it comes to end of support for the remaining supported operating systems, Windows Phone 8.1 mainstream support ended last year and Windows 10 Mobile end of mainstream varies according to year of release.
