Apple is known for announcing new iPhones mainly on September of every year except for the earlier iPhone and the iPhone SE.

However last year, they decided to announce something special: A (PRODUCT) RED special edition version of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. (PRODUCT) RED is their initiative that includes the phones and accessories (cases) where a part of the proceeds goes towards the Global Fund HIV/AIDS grants.

Last year, the (PRODUCT) RED version of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus featured a red back and sides with a white front. Although it looked nice and cool, people did not like the fact that it had a white front and wished that Apple had gone with a black front, which looked better in comparison. Some YouTubers even went ahead to replace the white facia with a black one and it seems Apple listened to their concerns.

(PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 and 8 PlusThis time round for the (PRODUCT) RED versions of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the special edition models feature the same red back and now have a black front, which would make a lot of people out there happy. The specs are still the same as the regular iPhone 8 and 8 Plus versions and will start at a retail price of $699 for the 64GB model.

That is not all, Apple also introduced a (PRODUCT) RED accessory for which is a leather folio case for the iPhone X. It is interesting to note that Apple did not release a (PRODUCT) RED version of the iPhone X although they did that with the regular iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

According to Apple, apparently they have donated more than $160 million in the last 11 years thanks to this initiative
