Apple Bite

Apple BiteAs we await Samsung to throw the arrow at Apple with their Ingenius ads, Apple is already taking some heat from Huawei. It seems that Huawei was not just satisfied with beating Apple in sales in the last quarter but they had to throw in a little shade with the hope of taking the shine off Apple.

Apple yesterday launched the new iPhones, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone Xr. All three, despite having their own differences, look fairly similar to last year’s iPhone X. The similarity is so evident that Apple has actually discontinued the production of the iPhone X.

It’s not just Apple who have had a situation where their consecutive releases are barely indistinguishable, Samsung was in the same position this year with the S9. Anyway, back to Huawei, the company pulled a couple of PR stunts that were all aimed at Apple.

Starting with a series of tweets that all teased the upcoming Huawei Mate 20. The first tweet simply reads, “thank you for letting us be the real hero of the year”:

The second tweet featured an animated sillhoute of a human being running on what looks like Apple’s ring in their press invites for the just concluded event, with the words, “Thank you for supporting us as innovators.”:

The final tweet sent out by the company hinted at the iPhone’s similarity to last year’s devices, “Thank you for keeping things the same,” read the tweet:

All three tweets included, “See you in London. 16.10.18”, hinting at the date for the launch of the Huawei Mate 20 series. On top of these tweets, the Huawei team in UK sent out special press kits that included a fruit basket and an invite to the October 16th event in London. As part of the fruit basket, was a note reading, “Because we know a bad Apple can spoil the whole bunch, we’ve removed that problem and delivered you a fruit basket you can use to make some Huawei healthy juices”.

Well, your move Apple…
