Huawei Y9 (2019)_3

Huawei Y9 (2019)_3For over two weeks now, the phone that I have been carrying around in my pocket has been the Huawei Y9 (2019). By now, you are familiar with all the buzz around the phone, with its friendly price being at the centre of the noise. But between your favourite YouTuber trying to fit the phone into her travel diaries and your Twitter timeline looking like a Huawei theme song, you may have missed what the Huawei Y9 (2019) really is about.

As the title suggests, the Y9 is more than just the cameras. I wouldn’t carry it around if it didn’t have the best battery life I have experienced yet. On a normal day, I will go to bed having 8 hours of screen-on-time and 15% battery remaining. On a better day, I will hit 11 hours screen-on-time, just before the battery dies. Crazy, right?

Huawei Y9 (2019) Battery Life

With a battery capacity of 4000mAh, it is no surprise that the Y9 can pull such numbers. But what’s a phone with so much battery if you can’t get great shots out of it?

You honestly thought we wouldn’t talk about the camera? Come on! The first thing that probably comes to your mind when you hear the Huawei Y9 (2019) is the camera and it’s okay to associate the device with camera performance. The truth is, the camera on this phone is a delight to use. Especially with the AI mode on that enhances your images to make them more presentable. However, it is fairly easy to get good shots from virtually any smartphone in 2018 when in broad daylight, but when the sun goes down, camera quality goes down with it.

For this reason, the Huawei Y9 (2019) features a dedicated night mode for such scenarios. Results? Images look brighter, less noisy and generally more pleasing.

Aside from a “wow-effect” camera, I am a sucker for looks and you guessed it, the Huawei Y9 (2019) is a straight 8, at least. I have the Sapphire blue and does it draw attention. It is such a beautiful phone, I have been rocking it without a case, despite one coming bundled in the box – Although this means it easily picks up scratches thanks to the glossy back.

The same story is mirrored on the front. The gigantic 6.5-inch display looks glorious with its Full HD resolution. Everything looks so crispy and actually using the device is also delightful. I also have to subtly mention that performance on the phone is as good as it looks. 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage just tickle my fancy and keeps things running really smooth.

So yeah, that’s been my life with the Huawei Y9 (2019), this isn’t a review, that’s coming up soon. For now, lemme go swipe right on some weekend plans on my Huawei Y9 (2019).
