Google released the Android Q beta recently and now we are in the process of waiting for the launch of the final release. They released the beta update to 21 devices, which includes a Huawei phone and now we are getting more good news from the company.
According to a post made on the Chinese social network Weibo, Huawei confirmed that they are going to update the following phones to Android Q.
- Huawei Mate 20 Pro
- Huawei Mate 20
- Huawei Mate 20 X
- Huawei Mate 20 RS
- Huawei P30 Pro
- Huawei P30
- Huawei View 20/ V20
- Honor Magic 2
The interesting bit is that first, we don’t know when these devices will get Android Q and secondly, there are some pretty recent phones that missed the cut. The P20 and P20 Pro are only a year old and are conspicuously missing from the list. You can even add the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and the P10 where the latter is only 2 years old at this point.
Since we are not sure about Huawei’s plans at the moment, we can only speculate that the smartphones mentioned by Huawei at this point will get Android Q first. The rest which includes capable devices like the P20 Pro, P20, Mate 10 and P10 might get the latest Android version afterwards.
Currently, only Huawei Mate 20 Pro owners can download the latest Android Q Beta 3 so if you are brave enough to handle a few bugs here and there. Or better still, you can hold off until Google releases the final version of Android Q which is usually done when they launch the next generation of Pixel devices (around October).
