You thought the iPod was dead? Well Apple is not done yet with the lineup thanks to a new update to the iPod touch.
Today Apple has revealed the new iPod Touch which doesn’t look too much different on the outside and the most of the updates are internal.
The new iPod touch now features the A10 Fusion chip which we saw first with the iPhone 7 back in 2016 and it is still a competent processor by today’s standards. The last generation of iPod touch had the Apple A8 chip which was introduced by the iPhone 6.
The inclusion of the A10 chip allows it to support augmented reality and improved performance in games. The iPod touch will also support Group FaceTie so that you can chat with several family, friends or colleagues simultaneously.
The new iPod touch still features the same 4 inch Retina display as the previous model. It also comes with the funky colours that we are used to from this product range (space grey, product red, gold, silver, pink and blue).
However this time around, the iPod touch will have a 256GB option which is a solid bump in storage capacity from the previous model max of 128GB.
The new iPod touch will start at $199 for the 32GB model, $299 for the 128GB model and $399 for the 256GB model. They will be available to order starting today in select countries all over the world.
We had thought that Apple had forgotten about the iPod Touch since the last time they announced a new one was almost 4 years ago. The iPod might not hold an important place as it once did, but it is cool that Apple hasn’t forgotten about it.
