huawei revenues shipments dip

Huawei has gone through hell the past few months thanks to the spat between the US and China over trade and security concerns. It led to US companies being banned from trading with Huawei and Huawei phones being stripped from various Android related websites.

One of the  Android related websites that Huawei phones were removed was the Android Enterprise Recommended website. This website makes it simple for enterprises to select and deploy Android services that are validated by Google.

Well, now Google has added back Huawei phones that were a part of this Android Enterprise Recommended website.

Some of the Huawei phones that have been added include:

  • Huawei Honor 20
  • Huawei Honor 20 Pro
  • Huawei Nova 5T Pro
  • Huawei Honor 5T
  • Huawei Honor 9X
  • Huawei Mate 20 X
  • Huawei Mate 20 X 5G
  • Huawei Nova 5
  • Huawei Nova 5 Pro
  • Huawei Nova 5i
  • Huawei P20 Pro
  • Huawei Y9 Prime 2019
  • Huawei Honor 9X

This is interesting since the US government is yet to make a decision about approving licences for companies to start trading with Huawei. This was announced almost a month ago and we are yet to see news about it. Huawei is still in the entity list which poses restrictions.

We will have to wait and see whether the trade ban will be lifted and we’ll inform promptly when it does. We will also report when Google is granted a licence to trade further with Huawei which could bring back the relationship they previously had. In the meantime, Huawei has Harmony OS which is their new operating system that could be their plan B.
