Xiaomi has today announced the newest version of their Android user interface – MIUI 12.
The UI just like any UI from Chinese smartphone manufacturers has an iOS-ish look.
MIUI 12 comes with incredible features that its users will love once it begins rolling out to Xiaomi devices.
Dark Mode 2.0
Xiaomi upgraded their version of dark mode. It is now improved with features like Wallpaper dimming that works by attempting to simulate how light transitions during the day cycle instead of just darkening the whole wallpaper in a blanket manner.
There’s also the ability to change the font and background contrast according to screen brightness.
Revamped UI
MIUI 12 now features a cleaner and neat design with several visual elements such as ones that show battery usage. Other customisation features added include floating windows for multitasking for games, video playback and chat apps.

Enhanced Privacy Features
MIUI 12 introduces new privacy features that include Flare, Barbed Wire, and Mask System.
- Flare: This system keeps a log of all the permissions and sensitive information accessed by any specific app and notifies you with attention-grabbing alerts in different colours whenever an app is using the cameras, microphone, or your GPS location
- Barbed Wire: This system asks you to allow location, microphone, or camera access with the options to allow only once, allow every time, or reject the app’s request.
- Mask: This system prevents untrusted apps from accessing crucial information like contacts, calendar, call logs, IMEI. You can also have a virtual identity that can spoof any app that is trying to capture your information without proper permission.
Other Features
