Xiaomi is scheduled to launch MIUI 12 next week. MIUI is the company’s custom user interface for its Android devices and with each update, lots of upgrades are brought to Xiaomi devices.
With the clock ticking, the company has been teasing some of its features on Weibo and what its users should expect.
Dark Mode 2.0
Dark mode has been a key feature users have craving for and in 2019 saw a wider adoption not only from apps but also operating systems.
MIUI 12 is bringing Dark mode 2.0 that will come with a couple of new features:
Wallpaper Dimming
This will be a new animation from MIUI 12’s smart wallpaper dimming feature. XDA reports that this new feature will work by attempting to simulate how light transitions during the day cycle instead of just darkening the whole wallpaper in a blanket manner.
Font and Background Adjustment
Dark mode 2.0 will also bring the ability to change the font and background contrast according to screen brightness.
This means that you will be able to use dark mode during the day with text legibility retained.
Font-weight Adjustments
Automatic adjustment of font’s weight is coming with MIUI 12’s Dark mode 2.0. Based on Xiaomi’s MIUI 11 dynamic font system, the font-weight will be automatically adjusted to reduce text blur and glare.
When the dark mode is disabled, the font-weight is adjusted accordingly. 
This feature will make it easy on the eyes when reading between these two modes.
