Labour Day weekend is finally here and with the inclement weather in the country, it will be a good thing to stay indoors and catch up on new movies streaming on Netflix, Peacock, Prime Video, HBO Max or wherever you watch your movies and TV series.
I’ve picked movies across different genres – ranging from horror, thriller, romcom, drama, fantasy, mystery, comedy, and documentary.
Stop Making Sense
Stop Making Sense was originally made in 1984 and is a concert film featuring Talking Heads’ songs and it is streaming on Max remastered in 4K. So if you like live performances and are a fan of the band, then go watch it. If you’re new to Talking Heads, you’ll still enjoy it.
The Idea of You
For the romcom lovers in the building(or this corner of the internet), The Idea of You couldn’t come at a better time, as it features Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine and follows the rollercoaster romance between the two with 24-year-old boy band lead Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine) and 40-year-old single mom Solène (Anne Hathaway).
It is streaming on Prime Video.
Unfrosted
If you want a good laugh, then Unfrosted is a silly movie you should watch on Netflix. It stars Jerry Seinfeld(also the director), Max Greenfield, Jim Gaffigan, Melissa McCarthy, Hugh Grant, Amy Schumer, Peter Dinklage, and Bill Burr.
The movie centres on the 1960s rivalry between Post and Kellog’s.
American Star
American Star is a British mystery thriller about an ageing hitman hired on a final assassination assignment to kill a man in Fuerteventura but while waiting, he turns it into a vacation but his past follows him to the island.
It stars Adam Nagaitis, Ian McShane, Nora Arnezeder and Thomas Kretschmann.
Arcadian
If you like horror thrillers, then Arcadian is for you. It stars Nicholas Cage, Jaeden Martell, Maxwell Jenkins and Sadie Soverall.
“Are we not men?”
Turtles All the Way Down
For John Green fans(Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars) then Turtles All the Way Down is for you. The movie has been adapted from the same-titled book by the author and follows a teenager with OCD as she tries to solve a mystery surrounding a fugitive billionaire who went missing.
The movie stars Isabela Merced, Maliq Johnson, Miles Ekhardt, J. Smith-Cameron and Poorna Jagannathan.
The American Society of Magical Negroes
The American Society of Magical Negroes is a fantasy film starring David Alan Grier who mentors Justice Smith in a secret organization with supernatural powers and whose purpose is to make the lives of white people easier.
Now you have it, share this link with anyone looking for something to watch this weekend instead of watching the Twilight Saga for the umpteenth time(yes, this is about me)
