Infinix Hot 9 Play

The Infinix Hot 9 series is here. The phones represent Infinix’s entry-level lineup, which goes back to the original Hot from half a decade ago.

Infinix started releasing the devices in twos and threes, and that approach is not different from what the latest releases have to offer.

In Kenya, we got the Hot 9 Play, which, based on the specs, represents the Lite versions of the Hot 9.

We have since unboxed and reviewed the Hot 9 Play, and for the price, it is a compelling proposition for people on a tight budget.

However, this coming Friday (May 29), Infinix is set to announce the Hot 9 Pro in India (and possibly a Kenya launch later on), and we have an idea of how it will differ from what we already have (Hot 9 Play).

Before we can look into that, here is a quick spec sheet for the Hot 9. Note memory configurations, as well as cameras.

Key differences

Hot 9

The Hot 9 has three RAM configurations at 2, 3, and 4 GB.

Memory starts from 32 GB. There is a 64 GB and 128 GB model.

Only the 128 GB model has 4 GB of RAM.

Whether you get 2/3 GB or 32/64 GB in memory, you get a quad-cam system with a 13 MP, 2 MP, 2 MP, and a QVGA sensor for low-light.

The 4/128 GB model upgrades the 13 MP main sensor to 16 MP.

All have an 8 MP selfie camera.

All have a 5000 mAh battery, and a 6.6-inch screen.

Price: TBA

Hot 9 Play

This should be the cheapest of the line.

It increases screen size to 6.82 inches, as well as battery capacity to 6000 mAh.

Memory-wise, the Hot 9 Play has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

The selfie snapper is the same as the Hot 9 at 8 MP. At the back is a dual-camera with a main 13 MP sensor.

It runs Android 10 Go, a stripped version of the Google OS that goes easy on resources. The Hot 9 and Hot 9 Pro should run ordinary Android 10 on top of XOS.

Price: KES 13299

Hot 9 Pro

This should be the same as the Hot 9, but instead of a 13 MP main camera, it is expected to rock a 48 MP sensor.

Furthermore, it gets an additional LED flash, making them four.

Everything else remains the same as the Hot 9.

Price: TBA
