MIE Groups, including its Kenya subsidiary Global Exhibitions Inc. will stage its first B2B Virtual Exhibition platform, Global Trade Week Virtual Exhibition (GTW VE).

GTW VE aims to allow adversely affected businesses in continental Africa to access the global market, as well as reach out to a broad network of buyers and suppliers to bolster their business offerings.

The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively affected all facets of business for organizations operating in the region and the world beyond. The pandemic has also seen the cancellation of tens of trade shows. Others have been pushed forward in the hope that things will be better.

The entire disarray has had a $16.2 billion impact on the global economy so far. To this end, GTW VW seeks to be part of the solution; it is an innovation with the MIE Group that looks forward to reconnecting businesses all over the globe by creating a virtual business environment that will stop the downturn in the marketplace. The platform will meet this goal by allowing businesses to run their operation normally, and mainly targets small and medium enterprises.

How GTW VE works

Visitors can register online to get connected to the GTW-VE universe. Afterward, they can look for products and services before connecting with a seller for additional engagement. Further, they can detail their project proposals before submitting RFQ’s and engaging with qualified suppliers. Lastly, they can have a one-on-one meeting to discuss additional business requirements.

Exhibitors, on the other hand, can register online to connect with GTW-VE team members. They can then book a stand to get connected to the GTW-VE universe.

Exhibitors are also required to upload and display their product and company information. They are also required to activate some sponsorship and advertising platforms to push engagements. The rest of the steps is the same for visitors where 1-1 engagements are pursued to make a sale.

Handling logistics

GTW-VE reports that it has robust assistance from its Global Logistics Partner DB SCHENKER. The partner will offer free customs clearance for any clients using its logistics chains, a 10% refund on overall logistics, special warehousing and dedicated account management.

Perks of attending GTW-VE

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with global manufacturers and suppliers, as well as view the most recent innovative products at an exclusive virtual exhibition environment.

Attendees have also been promised ease of registration and access, real-time live chat, and 1-1 video between visitors and exhibitors.

Furthermore, they have a platform to build a global personal network, with built-in e-commerce for real-time business transactions.

Beyond business, the platform will also drive thought leadership through its dedicated virtual conferences, live keynote presentations, moderated panel discussions, and exclusive webinars.

Perks of exhibiting

Participants are encouraged to exhibit because they can develop new revenue streams because if a given live event was postponed, then the affected business can use the platform to keep business running through attendee registrations, sponsorships, and networking.

Reportedly, the platform is also easy to manage and navigate because it has been designed with simplicity to transfer a business virtually.

Additional perks include an automated process-driven environment, and a competitive advantage at a fraction of investment because there is no travel, accommodation or shipment.

The first Zhejiang Jiaxing Haiyan Online Export Trade Fair was held on GTW (June 9 – 13) where 50 exhibitors showcased their products and services.

The platform is also seeking opportunities for SMEs through digital exhibitions. It is planning to unveil matching meetings, sub-forums, and other accessory events to appeal to more SMEs.

What they said

We understand the necessity of developing a platform to benefit suppliers, producers, and buyers. Our teams across China, UAE, and Africa have done an exceptional job in just two months developing a new and innovative solution for businesses adversely affected by this crisis. We are proud to be leading from the front in providing solutions that will help our clients thrive at all times.

– David Wang, Chairman’s MIE Group

Without a doubt, we are in the wake of a new normal that we all will have to not only adapt to but thrive in as well. Thankfully, innovation is written in the MIE Group DNA. We are heavily invested in Event Management Technology and for us, COVID-19 was the impetus we needed to speed up the development of something we’ve always had in the innovation pipeline.

– Zahoor Ahmed, VP Strategy and Partnerships

This solution we have developed comes at an extremely opportune time for SMEs all over Africa which have been hit particularly hard by this pandemic. GTW VE will provide a suitable trading ground for SMEs to resume business with no risk to themselves, their clients, or their staff. As GEx, we will spearhead the adoption of this platform by businesses across East Africa.
