The National Transport and Safety Authortity (NTSA) is planning a system upgrade this weekend on their TIMS platform this weekend.

They are planning a system upgrade scheduled today from 3pm that will last until Saturday (tomorrow) at 11am. NTSA says that during this period, all of their services will be unavailable to the public.

This is the first weekend in the series of upgrades that the regulator seeks to improve their systems.

NTSA previously announced that they are going to undertake 3 consecutive system upgrades this month. The first one was done between Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th, the next one has been scheduled for today and the next one will be done next Friday on the 17th to Saturday the 18th.

It is not clear what this ‘system upgrade’ pertains to, but the government body says that they are meant to “improve their services.”

TIMS (Transport Integrated Management System) is NTSA’s portal where you can access a variety of NTSA’s services. This includes an application for a smart driving licence, application for a duplicated logbook, application for reflective number plate, motor vehicle registration, motor vehicle inspection booking, transfer of ownership, and motor vehicle record search. It is a self service portal.

NTSA resumed vehicle inspection services last month following a temporary suspension which was done due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, they haven’t resumed issuing smart driving licenses and no tentative date has been given for their resumption.
