Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has filed a lawsuit against Arthur Mandela (also known as Xtiandela) and Shakilla over a defamatory video posted on social media.
“Take notice that the Application dated 6th October 2020 has been fixed for hearing on 10th November 2020 at Milimani Law Courts at 9am in the forenoon or soon thereafter in the High Court at Nairobi,” the hearing notice said. “Take further notice that if no appearance is made by yourself or your appointed advocate or someone authorized by law the matter will proceed and orders issued your absense norwithstanding,” it further adds.
This hearing notice was dated on 15th October 2020 (yesterday) and it a follow up to Victor Wanyama’s threat.
On 29th September, Victor Wanyama issued a notice where he pointed out the “defamatory video” that was posted by Arthur Mandela and the woman in the video (Shakilla). “I’m prepared to go to great lengths to protect my good name and character,” he said in the notice. “Consequently and with the blessing of my management team, I have instructed my legal team to pursue all legal remedies available to me to which I have the unreserved right to seek,” he said.
