Infinix Note 10 Pro Review

Infinix Note 10 series recently launched in Kenya. I got to use the Infinix Note 10 Pro for a good amount of time and here’s our unboxing and full review.

Inside the box, you get:

  • The Infinix Note 10 Pro
  • 33W power brick and micro-USB charging cable
  • a set of earphones
  • Sim ejector tool
  • a plastic case
  • a screen protector
  • warranty and user guide
Infinix Note 10 Pro Unboxing and First Impressions Review

Design

Infinix Note 10 Pro features award-winning design – yeah they got the IF Design Award for their latest smartphone.

  • Infinix Note 10 Pro Unboxing and First Impressions Review

We have a beautiful gradient back especially the Nordic Secret version(our review unit).

The Infinix logo is at the bottom. The back is matte for the Nordic Secret version. The purple variant is is uniquely divided into two sections with the bottom half completely textured in juxtaposition with the glossy top.

The matte version is more fingerprint and smudge resistant.

At the front is the 6.95″ screen that Infinix calls Super Fluid Display. It comes with a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate.

The high refresh rate makes everything refreshingly smooth: from day-to-day scrolling to mobile gaming

The LCD screen is capped at 1080p resolution with 500 nits of brightness.

The time I’ve interacted with the Infinix Note 10 Pro has been pretty enjoyable – from watching movies, videos, gaming and scrolling the web and my social media feed.

The colours are decent, the display can get sufficiently bright when outdoors and the high refresh rate makes it enjoyable when reading or watching video content on the Infinix Note 10 Pro.

There’s stereo sound for thanks to the earpiece that doubles up as the secondary speaker and makes a huge multimedia difference.

I wish Infinix had put an AMOLED panel – that would be the cherry on top.

Software and Performance

Under all that beauty, brains and power lie underneath the Infinix Note 10 Pro. Infinix Note 10 Pro rocks 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage coupled with MediaTek G95 processor and Mali G76 MC4 GPU.

I didn’t run into issues thanks to this combo and the Infinix Note 10 Pro has more than enough power to handle whatever you throw at it.

Tasks ranging from simple work stuff like checking emails, streaming Spotify, photography, browsing the web and keeping tabs on my social media feeds, switching tabs to simple games like Ninja Arashi, Two Dots, Atomas, Linn Path of Orchards, Transmission which all play at 90fps and graphics-heavy like PUBG, Asphalt 9, Among Us, Call of Duty, Grim Valour and more.

The Infinix Note 10 Pro is a consistent performer – I was getting constant frame rates and the highest graphic settings.

No slowdowns with the Infinix Note 10 PRO

Infinix Note 10 Pro features the latest software -XOS 7.6 which is the company’s latest user interface and Google’s Android 11.

Android 11 brings improved handling of app permissions for the camera, microphone, and location, scoped storage, and auto-reset permissions for apps you haven’t used in a while, Nearby Share, ability to pin apps in the share menu and scheduled dark mode, powerful media controls, seamless updates, Multitasking pane, improved autofill, suggested apps, biometric authentication, among a host of other useful features.

XOS 7.6 brings with it features like App Lock, XClone, XProof that obscure the screen when using the phone in public, Game Zone, Sound localization, DTS audio processing, Dar-Link Ultimate Game Booster and Thunder Back Mode 2.0 to easily switch from one app to another.

Infinix’s Dar-link Ultimate Game Booster optimization engine software, which works with the smartphone’s hardware to improve graphic image stability and screen sensitivity.

The software intelligently adjusts the operating speed of the CPUs and GPUs and allocates resources to improve images and movements in different gaming scenarios.

You’ll have to disable and uninstall bloatware but other than that, navigating the interface was fluid and smooth complemented by the 90Hz refresh rate – I didn’t even need to download a third-party launcher and that says alot.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s still much to do in terms of improving the software experience but I’m liking the progress so far.

Also Infinix needs to start bringing platform updates to its phones – or at least assure consumers that the Note 10 Pro will be eligible for the Android 12 update when it launches later this year – I mean the hardware can run with new software with no issues.

Battery Life Performance

As for battery life, Infinix Note 10 Pro has a gigantic 5000mAh battery that sufficiently lasts all day and more without any issues.

Even with 90Hz on, I was averaging about 8 and a half to 9 hours screen on time with days of light use. When I was on the phone all day, I was getting a little more than 7 hours. These are really impressive stats.

You can easily pull a day and a half on this phone.

When you run low on juice, Infinix included 33W fast charging. That’s a huge upgrade from its predecessor which featured 18W fast charging.

36 minutes can get you from empty to 53% and a little over 30 minutes to 90%.

Cameras

Infinix Note 10 Pro rocks a 64MP quad-camera with the additional 8MP ultrawide[120° field of view], 2MP depth and 2MP monochrome.

The Infinix Note 10 on the other hand has a 48MP triple camera setup what the company calls “48MP Ultra Night Camera”

Complementing the main camera is two additional cameras – a 2MP depth camera and a macro lens.

Infinix Note 10 and Infinix Note 10 Pro feature 16MP selfie camera with two front-facing LED flashes.

The NOTE 10 series also offers 4K resolution shooting capabilities in both the front and rear cameras using leading video-enhancement algorithms from Imint’s Vidhance Video Stabilization solution and auto-blur video shooting.

The camera user interface on the Infinix Note 10 Pro is pretty straightforward and easy to use.

You can play around with different modes such as Portrait mode, Group Selfie, Panorama, HDR, Beauty, 64MP mode, Short Video, Video, Video Bokeh mode, Slowmotion, AR shot, Ultra-Steady Mode, Timelapse and Super Night Mode.

There’s the option to shoot 4K video at 30fps, 1080p at either 60fps and 30fps and 720p at 30fps. Timelapse videos are shot at 1080p at 30fps.

The videos are pretty good too especially when shooting using the higher resolution option – you can share them not only on Instagram Stories, TikTok or WhatsApp but also on YouTube.

Here are some shots

Regular Shots

You’ll definitely love taking photos with the Infinix Note 10 Pro. Most photos turn out with great dynamic range and lots of details.

Infinix Note 10 Pro Lowlight Portrait

Most of the selfies turned out pretty great including the lowlight ones even when taking portrait selfies. The colour science on lowlight selfies needs to be worked on. The t-shirt I was wearing was red and not the colour you can see in the bottom two selfies. Hopefully, a software update fixes that.

Apart from the colour reproduction issue, I loved the quality of these selfies – the lowlight portrait shots are amazing.

Lowlight and Super Night Mode Shots

The lowlight(including bokeh shots and super night mode shots are pretty impressive. The three bottom photos above really wowed as the Infinix Note 10 Pro could capture the blue flame of the candle – the scenario was a candle-lit dinner and other phones were finding it hard to take a proper photo.

Verdict: Solid Performer

Infinix Note 10 Pro delivers superlative performance – the hardware and software synergy is commendable together with the dependable camera performance in most lighting conditions, added by the reliable battery life performance.

Infinix Note 10 Pro is an Easily pocketable overall package.

For the price, you are getting a lot of value for your money.
