OPPO Reno5 Review

ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 is becoming available to more OPPO smartphones this month. The update is now rolling out to the OPPO Reno5 in Kenya right after rolling out to the OPPO Reno6 5G.

OPPO Reno5 was launched in Kenya early last year and we got to review it, checking out its features including its photography performance and even putting it against its older sibling, the OPPO Reno4 in our comprehensive comparison review.

OPPO Reno5 Review: Basically Perfect

The OPPO Reno5 launched running Android 11 and ColorOS 11.

How To Get The Update

To get the update, head to Settings, and scroll to Software Update. If the update is available for your phone, a notification will pop up asking you to download and update.

ColorOS 12 brings a new inclusive UI, smoother performance, and rich features and comes packed with softer icons and animations.

ColorOS 12 ships with features from Android 12 including new quick tiles, new widgets, improved one-handed mode, notification settings, visual overhaul, and new app pairs for split-screen and privacy improvements.

OPPO adds that ColorOS 12 has an average of 30% lower memory occupation and 20% lower battery consumption.

OPPO Reno5 Camera Performance Review: More is Better

Other features get upgraded including PC Connect, 3-Finger Translate powered by Google Lens, FlexDrop, Private System, Private Safe, App Lock, App Cloner and Phone Manager.

The OPPO Reno5 is undeniably better than its predecessor. The OPPO Reno5 has a gorgeous gradient design with starry black and fantastic silver, an impressive 64MP quad-camera set-up, robust hardware in the form of the Snapdragon 720G chip, 90Hz AMOLED display, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, stereo sound, 50W ultra-fast charging and excellent battery life.

OPPO finally nailed the hardware and software, and this synergy makes the Reno5 a truly standout choice this year.

Pricing and Availability:

OPPO Reno5 is available for Ksh 40,000 at OPPO’s retail stores countrywide and in online retail stores including Jumia, Kilimall and Masoko.

ColorOS 12 Rollout Plan To Other OPPO Smartphones

This month, OPPO is rolling out ColorOS 12 to the OPPO Reno5(ongoing), OPPO Reno 5F, OPPO Reno4 and OPPO A95.

Later on, the update will roll out to the OPPO A93.
