Do you enjoy using WhatsApp on your PC or laptop? You might be happy to receive some good news about the desktop app.

Meta has released a new native desktop application for Windows which is sleek in design and has proven quite effective so far. The tech giant has also announced that it is currently working on developing the same application for the macOS platform.

The new update gifts the Whatsapp messaging enthusiasts a new application that is much more suited to their needs. Expect a much faster and more reliable application which is expected to show an improvement as compared to its predecessor which had a slow start to it when powering it up and when syncing it with the host device.

An additional improvement will see you receive notifications and messages even when your host device or smartphone is offline.

Windows Users

In order to download the new application for Windows users:

You can head over to the Microsoft store or click on Whatsapp Desktop App for Windows where you can download and install the application.

After downloading the application:

  1. Open the Whatsapp application on your phone.
  2. Tap on the more options if on Android and tap on the Settings option if on iPhone.
  3. Select the linked devices option.
  4. You will be required to hover over your PC as you point your phone camera toward the QR code which will appear on the Whatsapp Desktop App in order to scan

Mac Users

It is possible to join the beta program if you are a macOS user by clicking here.

For Mac users, the Whatsapp Web is expected to offer more to your needs. If this does not suit you are encouraged to adopt the web-based Whatsapp Desktop Application.
