Showmax is renewing its successful original series – Single Kiasi for another season. Single Kiasi season one was one of the most-watched titles on Showmax for 13 weeks straight after it premiered in January this year.

The 13-part drama followed the lives of three Nairobi women –Sintamei(Gathoni Mutua), Mariah(Minne Kariuki ) and Rebecca(Faith Kibathi ) as they dealt with the challenges that marriage, relationships, and their careers throw at them. Season One also explored the strong bond of friendship that these women share.

The series also starred Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy), Michael Munyoki (A Grand Little Lie), Lucarelli Onyango (Crime and Justice), Mburu Kimani (Nairobi Half Life), Lenana Kariba (Selina), Dora Nyaboke (Crime and Justice) and Jacky Kaboi (Bait).

Production for season two has started and the second instalment will premier sometime next year.

Season Two picks up up a couple of months after the shocking events of the season one finale that threw uncertainty over the three women’s love lives who reprised their roles as leads Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca.

Season Two will explore themes as varied as loyalty, forgiveness and self-acceptance. We expect exciting adventures, glamour and humorous encounters and scenarios that challenge the trio and test the limits of their strong bonds.

Returning cast will also include Michael Munyoki (A Grand Little Lie), Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy), Kevin Maina, Walter Bruce Opiyo, Derek Bbanga and Maggie Kiundi.

The new cast will feature Grace Wacuka (A New Christmas) as Olivia, a new female lead and Sintamei’s wealthy friend who might just be the answer to her problems. Others include Fidel Maithya (Selina); Quincy Rapando (Zora); Ian Mbugua (Chaguo); Mufasa Kibet aka Mufasa Poet (Crime and Justice); and Ciku Shire (Famous).

Single Kiasi season two will find these characters experiencing transformational events that will impact their friendship in unforeseen ways.

“Single Kiasi season one surpassed all our expectations by being one of the most-watched titles on Showmax for 13 weeks straight. The show is an absolute testament that Kenyans want and support good local content where they see themselves reflected. As Insignia Productions, we’re very thankful for the reception the show has received and we’re excited to give our audience a bigger and better season two,” said Single Kiasi director Grace Kahaki.

Co-directing the new season alongside Grace will be Single Kiasi director Grace Kahaki.
