OPPO Launches First Bluetooth Chip for Wired-Quality Audio Experience

OPPO has made a public announcement of a new audio system-on-chip (SoC) called the MariSilicon Y, which was presented during the OPPO INNO DAY event in 2022.

This SoC is built using advanced N6RF process technology and has a data transfer rate of up to 12Mbps.

The chip also has a unique URLC codec technology that provides a high-quality, 24-bit/192 kHz audio experience through Bluetooth.

Additionally, the MariSilicon Y features a specialized NPU that has a computing power of up to 590 GOPS, allowing for a new type of smart, spatial audio experience.

MariSilicon Y is a product of OPPO’s experience in audio technology. The new SoC aims to revolutionize wireless audio experiences by focusing on two key areas:

  1. Wireless and lossless: the SoC addresses the limitations of current Bluetooth audio devices and delivers exceptional lossless audio quality via a wireless connection.
  2. Computational audio: it offers powerful audio computing capabilities, opening up new opportunities for immersive and personalized listening experiences.

According to OPPO, MariSilicon Y is an ultra-power-efficient SoC that allows users to experience true 24-bit/192 kHz ultra-clear lossless audio over Bluetooth. This level of audio quality is equivalent to that of digital masters and contains about 6.5 times more sound information than conventional CDs, resulting in a richer and more detailed sound.

To achieve this level of audio quality via Bluetooth, OPPO has developed a new Pro Bluetooth Pack that combines a significantly higher Bluetooth data rate with exclusive codec technology, resulting in fast and seamless wireless connectivity.

Currently, standard Bluetooth protocols are not capable of supporting ultra-clear lossless audio. OPPO has increased the data transmission rate by 50% compared to mainstream Bluetooth SoCs, enabling a theoretical data rate of up to 12Mbps. This is the first time such a high Bluetooth data rate has been achieved.

By introducing MariSilicon Y with its dedicated on-device computing power, OPPO can now offer users next-level lossless and wireless audio, along with a personalized and immersive listening experience across OPPO devices.
