Britam General Insurance has partnered with AiCare Telematics Ltd to introduce Motomatics, a motor insurance cover aimed at rewarding safe and low-mileage drivers. At the heart of this innovative product lies telematics technology, which changes the way driving data is collected and analyzed for insurance purposes.
Telematics refers to the sophisticated technology utilized to monitor and assess various driving metrics, including speed, mileage, braking, acceleration, and location. This data is gathered either through onboard devices installed in vehicles or mobile applications, providing insurance companies with valuable insights into driver behavior and usage patterns.
Motomatics leverages Telematics Technology provided by AiCare, allowing Britam to offer customers reduced premiums if they drive less than 10,000 kilometers annually and exhibit safe driving behavior. The system calculates a driving score based on the collected data, determining the level of discount each driver qualifies for, with potential savings of up to 20% against standard pricing, depending on the vehicle type and value.
Customers can conveniently track their mileage, review driving analytics, file claims, and access immediate support through the mobile app or online account. The cover comes with a mileage cap of 10,000 kilometers, and should customers deplete this limit, they have the option to top up mileage for an additional 10,000 kilometers via the app or online portal.
