Spotify App Music Videos Kenya

Streaming giant Spotify is now adding a new option to listening to music on its app besides just audio.

Spotify is adding music videos to its apps – both smartphone, desktop and TV apps. You can now be able to watch the music videos in Full HD resolution on the platform by simply tapping the option on select songs.

The platform is playing catchup with the likes of YouTube Music, Tidal and Apple Music which already have this feature. These two however lack the option to quickly switch between the two modes.

Spotify App Music Videos

The music videos are not embedded YouTube videos but videos available on Spotify and play with no ads before, during or in the end of the song you’re listening to.

Artists whose videos will be shown include Ice Spice, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Alicia Keys, Drake, The Weeknd, Billie Elish, Doja Cat. Other artists include Asake and Aluna.

Spotify has dedicated the music videos section at the bottom of the artist’s page when you can get a carousel of them. Most of the videos are from last year.

It’s unknown if Spotify will start counting music video views an include them in the streaming numbers an artist gets each month.

This new feature is rolling out in Kenya and other countries including the UK, Brazil, Columbia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Philipines, Sweden and Poland.

You’ll need to have a premium subscription to view the videos. You can switch to landscape mode to watch the videos in full screen.

When you start watching a music video on the app, Spotify will queue up more songs with videos from that artist.

You’ll see song and artist information on the right side of the interface.

For now, the videos are limited and Spotify has obtained distribution rights so expect more video content on the app.

Spotify already has other video types on its platform including the Canvas feature which shows a looping album artwork, Clips and Video podcasts.
