Spotify has been testing video podcasts for a while now. The streaming giant has officially announced that the video podcasts are now live worldwide.
Spotify has gone all-in on podcasts. They recently acquired Gimlet Media, a podcast network and producer. They acquired Parcast, a producer for crime, mystery and sci-fi podcasts and Anchor too, which was a DIY podcasting startup that provides a set of tools that make it super easy for anyone(beginner and Pro) to create and monetize their own podcasts and for free.
They also partnered with the likes of TikTok Star Addison Rae, Higher Ground Production(Barack and Michelle Obama’s media company), Joe Rogan and Kim Kardashian for Spotify exclusive podcasts.

Their investment on podcasts is really paying off. More than 500,000 podcast titles are now available on the platform and podcast listeners have gone up by more than 50% since the year began with a 39% increase in podcast hours consumed by listeners quarter over quarter.
How the Video Podcasts will work
The video podcasts are available worldwide but only for selected creators. They’ll wok both on the Spotify apps and on the web.
It’s worth noting you can stream the audio even when your phone locked or if you want to listen for later, download it for offline listening.
YouTubers who have podcasts on Spotify and on the video hosting platform will also be able to post their content on the Google-owned site.
According to Spotify, the creator-made videos will start automatically and sync immediately with your audio feed.
Book of Basketball 2.0, Fantasy Footballers, The Misfits Podcast, H3 Podcast, The Morning Toast, Higher Learning with Van Lathan & Rachel Lindsay, and The Rooster Teeth Podcast are some of the podcasts that now have a video option for users to watch.
