Semiconductor maker, MediaTek has officially launched its latest flagship chipset, the Dimensity 9300+ which is set to compete with the industry’s best like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. The new processor is set to generate higher clock speeds and improved APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) to the Dimensity 9300.
According to the manufacturer, the new chipset will offer accelerated on-device generative AI processing alongside broader support for LLMs. The SoC also uses MediaTek’s new NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology set to handle various AI tasks.
The Dimensity 9300+ chipset is also designed to integrate a 2nd generation hardware raytracing engine with an Arm Immortalis-G720 GPU. This will give mobile gamers an improved experience with better graphic quality at 60FPS along with console-grade global illumination effects. MediaTek states that the chip will offer better power efficiency during gaming thanks to the company’s latest HyperEngine technologies.
When it comes to AI features, the Dimensity 9300+ chipset supports AI models such as Google Gemini Nano, Meta Llama 2 and Llama 3.
Camera capabilities are also set for a boost with MediaTek’s Imagiq 990 ISP which offers 18-bit RAW processing. AI integration will also involve the ISP’s built-in Semantic Analysis Video Engine. This supports advanced AI videography features such as 16-scene segmentation with real-time video capture. This offers noise reduction, brightness adjustment and colour enhancement.
There are already new smartphones set to launch with this new chipset like the Vivo X1000s.
