MoPhones: Kenya’s Rise of Renewed Smartphones

It has been quite clear over the last decade or so that mobile technology is here to stay and has increased its influence on daily life in Kenya. Every single year, brands are looking to launch some of their latest and best offerings for Kenyan consumers be it budget, midrange or high-end smartphones and the demand for them keeps growing day by day. However, not everyone can get to afford every brand-new smartphone that comes out so refurbished products have continued to grow in popularity just as much as the brand-new ones.

Unfortunately, the market for renewed devices is still very young as most stores tend to go for the next new thing as their selling points. Luckily, some have identified it and one of them is MoPhones a store that currently leads the way by offering renewed smartphones that meet the demands of budget-conscious shoppers while promoting environmental sustainability.

“Mobile phones have transitioned from a luxury to a necessity in modern life, serving critical functions in business, education, and connectivity,” states Nate Heller, Country Manager at MoPhones. “Our goal is to make high-quality smartphones available to all Kenyans, empowering them with the latest technology without financial strain.”

So what are the main problems that MoPhones looks to solve through this business venture?

Sustainability: Paving the Way for an Eco-Friendly Future

One of the main concerns with modern mobile technology has been the accumulation of e-waste with older gadgets ending up as waste without anyone to collect and recycle really. MoPhones is looking to help spread awareness of this problem as it dedicates itself to sustainability.

Kenya, like many other countries, is struggling with the management of e-waste, much of which is linked to discarded mobile devices.

“Every renewed phone purchased from MoPhones represents a step toward a more sustainable future,” said Nate Heller. “By opting for renewed devices, consumers actively contribute to reducing electronic waste, conserving resources, and supporting the global shift towards a circular economy.”

Offering quality & reliable renewed smartphones

Despite the appeal when it comes to cost, the refurbished gadget market has been skewed alot by bad actors who look to sell devices that are not as reliable or even original in the first place. This has led to many Kenyan consumers hesitating from buying second-hand or renewed devices, particularly smartphones.

MoPhones looks to change Kenyans’ perspective on the market by offering renewed devices that also promise long-term quality and reliability. This is through offers like a 1-year warranty and a 48-hour return policy for all devices you buy from it in case of any faults from your purchase.

“Our renewed smartphones undergo extensive quality checks to uphold the highest standards,” explains Nate Heller. “With our warranty and customer support, we ensure buyers feel confident in their purchase, knowing they are acquiring a reliable device from a reputable brand.”

Flexible payment options

One of the biggest issues with the mobile market has also been the rigid financing modes that don’t allow consumers to acquire devices unless they have the full amount to pay for them.

MoPhones is looking to change by offering flexible financing options even for refurbished smartphones, allowing customers to pay in instalments. The company notes that this initiative has been popular among the country’s young consumers who are now able to upgrade their devices without the financial pressures that come with the rigid payment options.

So what’s next for MoPhones?

MoPhones is looking to expand its presence in the Kenyan market as it stays committed to promoting innovation that consumers and the environment can benefit from.

“Our vision is to lead the renewed smartphone market in Kenya and beyond, ensuring high-quality devices are accessible to everyone while promoting sustainability,” concludes Nate Heller. “The future of mobile technology is about making smart, sustainable choices, and MoPhones is proud to spearhead this effort.”

The company is now offering new deals for October for its devices that you can acquire with guaranteed free delivery. Check out the deals via this link.
