TikTok’s STEM feed is finally in Kenya. This tab is fully dedicated to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It aims to empower continued discovery on TikTok and connect a dynamic community of people with shared interests.
“The STEM feed, which features alongside the For You feed, opens up a world of knowledge from respected experts in their fields. The feed, which has so far included English-speaking content with auto-translate subtitles, has seen science, technology, engineering, and mathematics content grow globally by 35% since the launch of the STEM feed,” the social media platform wrote on its blog.
It was first launched in April of 2024 to about 150 million people across some parts of Europe. Six months later, ByteDance expanded the feed’s reach, bringing it to more European users and launching it in the United States and Canada, growing the STEM audience to approximately 10 million.
With over 10 million active users in Kenya, TikTok, which has faced criticism from authorities for explicit content, is now introducing a welcome change with its automatically activated STEM feed. The feed can be switched off by adjusting content settings in the app.

The platform claims that educational communities are already thriving across TikTok. Almost 10 million STEM-related videos have been published globally in the last three years.
To ensure the feed features high-quality content, TikTok is deepening its partnerships with Common Sense Networks, focused on age-appropriate content, and the Poynter Institute, a leader in journalistic integrity.
Common Sense Networks and Poynter will act as gatekeepers, ensuring content is both appropriate and reliable before it appears on the STEM feed.
The STEM feed’s global expansion will continue, with plans to introduce localized content in languages such as French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Arabic.
