Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its slimmest and lightest flagship smartphone to date.
Measuring just 5.8mm thick and weighing 163 grams, the device combines premium design with advanced features, targeting users who seek portability without compromising performance.
Design and Display
The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, delivering durability along with vibrant visuals.
Its ultra-thin form factor is achieved through a titanium frame, offering both strength and a sleek aesthetic. The phone is available in Titanium Silver, Jet Black, and Icy Blue, designed to appeal to users who prefer a minimalist, case-less experience.
Performance and Battery
At its core, the Galaxy S25 Edge is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, coupled with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. It runs on Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7 interface, promising smooth multitasking and an intuitive user experience.
To maintain its slender profile, the device packs a 3,900mAh battery, slightly smaller than other flagships, but still adequate for daily use. It supports 25W wired charging and wireless charging, though the charger is sold separately.
Camera Capabilities
The S25 Edge sports a dual-camera setup comprising a 200MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation, alongside a 12MP ultra-wide lens capable of macro photography.
On the front, a 12MP selfie camera provides an 85-degree field of view. While it lacks a dedicated telephoto lens, AI-enhanced zoom capabilities allow up to 10x digital zoom, making it suitable for users who value high-resolution photography in a sleek, portable device.
AI Features and Software Enhancements
Samsung places a strong emphasis on AI integration in the Galaxy S25 Edge. The phone includes tools for real-time multimodal camera use, voice interactions, and AI-powered image and audio editing.
It also introduces features like Google Gemini, Now Brief, and Now Bar, reflecting the brand’s commitment to embedding smart, helpful experiences into everyday use.
Availability & Pricing
With its slim profile, premium materials, and intelligent features, the Galaxy S25 Edge is positioned between the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra.
Samsung appears to be targeting tech-savvy users who desire both sophistication and portability. The timing of the launch also positions it competitively against an expected thinner iPhone model later this year.
It’s not clear when we will get to see this model make an appearance in Kenyan stores but it’s only a matter of time before an official date is made. As it stands, the Galaxy S25 Edge is up for pre-order in international markets at $1,099 (about KES 142,000) for the base 256GB variant.
