Could this be the end of FREE Calls on Skype? Skype has been a huge part of our life when it comes to calls. It has enabled most of us to communicate with family, friends, even clients in businesses.

Software Giant Microsoft has purchased Skype for a whooping $8.5 billion. So the big question is, did Microsoft overpay for Skype?

eBay had purchased Skype in 2005 for $2.6 billion but they found it hard to keep it profitable. From eBay point of view, Microsoft offer to buy Skype could be the best news this year considering they made losses of $1.4 billion. This is the biggest purchase that Microsoft has done in order to keep up with its main competitors Google and Apple.

From the reaction seen on the Skype Facebook page after the announcement, majority of the users are seeing the move by Microsoft as not good and some of them are even threatening to uninstall their skype. So what plans does Microsoft have for skype? Only time will tell!
