Bada vs Windows phone

Bada vs Windows phoneThis third quarter Gartner Report on Mobile phones has a story it’s telling on how the market-share is like. And quite noticeable is the scale that RIM has had with the mobile OS Blackberry. It went up to 3rd after Android and iOS. The number of devices sold running Android were 122 million, making twice the number sold last year same quarter. iOS running smartphones sales also went up from 17 million to 23 million. Coming third was RIM with Blackberry OS doing 8 million devices sold, down from 12 million last year, but noticeably above Symbian and Windows phone OS which did 4.4 and 4 million respectively. Symbian which has since reached end of life dropped from 19 million same time last year while Windows phone is on a slow rise from 1 million.

Another surprise is the oft silent Bada, doing 5 million up from 2.4 million and doing better than Microsoft’s Windows phone OS. Samsung must be quite proud of themselves, being the leader in device shipments, leader in Android shipments, Smartphone shipments, best selling smartphone and also their in-house baby that they dont push a lot doing better than Windows Phone in the hands of Nokia among several other OEMS. Maybe will will tell another story when Windows phone 8 goes mainstream, but as-is, Bada is doing better, see tables below.
