NUS and Cisco Collaborate to Deploy Largest Education Wireless Network in Singapore

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has collaborated with Cisco and a leading ICT provider in Singapore, NCS to build a scalable high-speed wireless network in its campuses. The network addresses the mobility needs of its students and staffs in Kent Ridge and Bukit Timah campuses. The project consists 3,200 wireless access point across both campuses. Mobile access points have also been installed in 19 shuttle buses by the institution allowing students to have uninterrupted internet access on any device.

NUS is also participating in eduroam which allows students from the institution to access the University’s Wi-Fi from overseas. This can be done through a student’s NUSNET account. Participating organizations in the eduroam initiative include universities and research insititutions. Students will be able to download class notes, access general internet content and interact online through the wireless environment.
