We recently brought you news that Samsung is on course to release the Android 4.3 update for its devices including the Galaxy Megas (5.8 and 6.3), S III, S4 and the Note II. That Android 4.3 update is expected to bring support for the Galaxy Gear among other things (maybe even including the infamous regional lock for new factory-produced devices).
While those of us who own the aforementioned devices wait for the update some time later this month or the next, a new document leaked to Sammobile shows that the same devices are up for some KitKat candybar treatment.
While the Galaxy S III, S4 and Note II are expected to get a fully functional Knox app with the 4.3 update that will be available soon, devices like the Galaxy Megas will be getting it with the Android 4.4 KitKat update. That also includes the mini versions of last year and this year’s flagships, the Galaxy S III Mini and the Galaxy S4 Mini.
Of course with mid-range devices up for some KitKat love it is obvious that the flagship devices for the last two years (2012-2013) will all be getting the Android 4.4 update. Samsung has always updated its flagships at least twice in major software updates so it should not be a surprise that owners of devices that are still very popular and grossing sales numbers like the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II will be left out.
Here is the leaked document:
