1% Club a Dutch based organization together with Nailab, mLab, iBiz Africa and iHub all in Nairobi will be hosting a crowd-funding two day bootcamp in Nairobi to support projects that either have a social or environmental impact. The bootcamp going by the name Cheetah Fund will be held on the 9th and 10th of October in Nairobi at Bishop Magua Centre, the building where Nailab, iHub and m:lab are located.
The Cheetah Fund is backed by the Dutch National Postcode Lottery and will thus support ideas across Africa with a target of 100 ideas that have social and environmental impact. Participants will need to register on the website and if the projects qualify, raise 30% of the sum their project needs. Once they achieve this the fund then fills in the rest. This happens in 30 days from the end of the campaign period and the funds will be channeled to the account listed.
The bootcamp which is a two day event can only be attended by individuals on one of the two days, not both. This will be characterized by sessions where pitching, social media, story telling and communication skills will be included to get participants ahead in their game when it comes to execution of their projects. Anyone and everyone who feels they fit in is able to register and upload their project before the event day. Read more here for details.
