LEAP² is an online platform, founded by Close the Gap and the 1% Club, that aims to connect sources of knowledge and facilitate the digital transition to create (self-)employment and to promote socially responsible entrepreneurship in emerging countries.
Through their Innovation Challenge, LEAP² is partnering with Nailab to challenge young entrepreneurs to give their innovation a boost by crowdfunding and working on a business case of their choice. The challenge targets business innovations based on tech solutions that solve challenges in the society.
Applications are open until 24 May, 2017, after which only 10 innovations will be selected to take part in the challenge. The ten innovations selected from all the applications will work on a business case of their choice and crowdfund for one month. During the finals, which are set to take place on July 4th, 2017, all the ten innovations will pitch their innovation to impact investors, local corporates and other stakeholders.
Entrepreneurs can apply using this form. The chosen 10 will attend a crowdfunding and co-creation workshop in Nairobi. After the one day workshop, the teams will start their crowdfunding campaign which will run for one month.
Close the Gap will match the amount each team raises once they are at 50% with a maximum of €5,000. All ten crowdfunding campaigns will run until July 4th, 2017.
