Seeing that Apple has taken the wraps off its best iPhones yet for another year, we take a moment to reflect on how much the design of the iPhone has changed (or not changed) over the years. The first iPhone was introduced back in 2007 when Steve Jobs took to the stage and announced the device that would forever change how we know the smartphone.
So let’s start our journey to the past (tap on the gallery for an immersive experience):
Released in 2007 featuring full capacitive display but lacked third-party apps support and GPS
Launched in 2008 it added 3G support and later on Apple App Store
The first iPhone to carry the S monicker, idnicating a minor upgrade, launched in 2009. First iPhone to feature video recording capabilities and voice control
The 2010 iPhone 4 came with a new design and brought the first Retina display. It was also the first iPhone to feature a selfie camera.
The iPhone 4S brought the world Siri back in 2011.
The iPhone 5. Introduced the lightning connector and had a more modern design.
iPhone 5C was launched in 2013 and was meant to be a cheaper version of the 5. It also brought the control panel to the iPhone lineup.
The 5S was the flagship model of the year 2013. It brough Touch ID and was the first iPhone to pack a 64-bit processor.
iPhone 6 and 6Plus saw Apple try out a new design and were the first iPhone to be big enough to compete with the competition in terms of screen size.
The iPhone 7. I am sure you don’t need an introduction to this one.
