Nokia 6 (2018)

Nokia 6 (2018)The Nokia 6 (Second-Generation) was not a surprise as the phone has been around since the first week of January when it started selling in China. The main focus of the device is design once again. The original Nokia 6 was built out of a single block of aluminium and this holds true for the second-generation Nokia 6 as well.

The design of the second-generation Nokia 6 shares a lot from its predecessor, however, the fingerprint reader has been moved to the back and the capacitive navigation buttons have now been replaced with on-screen buttons. This doesn’t mean we get an 18:9 aspect ratio display, no, the display is the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio form factor.

The metallic unibody comes in a two-tone colour design that showcases the premium build of the device. That’s not all, one of the major shortcomings of the original Nokia 6 was its battery life, performance and Camera. HMD has addressed these issues by including Zeiss optics on the main camera of the Nokia 6, a better processor and also “flagship features” such as OZO Audio recording, Bothie mode and USB Type-C for fast charging.

Nokia 6 (second-generation)

Other features of the Nokia 6 (Second-generation) include:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD Display
  • Snapdragon 630
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • 16MP Main Camera
  • 8MP Selfie camera
  • Android 8.1 Oreo
  • 3000mAh battery
  • Dual SIM
  • 4G capability with VoLTE support
  • Rear-Mounted Fingerprint reader

The device will available for the global market as from April, with a price tag of around 279 Euros, which translates to around Kes.35,000. I do hope the phone makes it to Kenya with a 10k shave off that price tag. Colour options for the Nokia 6 (Second-generation) include; Blue with gold detail, Black with copper detail, White with ion detailing.
