President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Twitter account and Facebook page have vanished from the social media realm.
This happened minutes after the Kenyan President tweeted about corruption, which has sent people spiraling on social media about the reasons why his account was deactivated.

Others thought that his Twitter account was hacked.

When you try to view the President’s Twitter account, this is what you see.
However, State House’s Chief of Staff, Mr Nzioka Waita has clarified what is going on with the President’s social media handles via a tweet.
“On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of the H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken.”
In the case for Twitter, the company says in its rules that Twitter accounts are suspended when they violate Twitter rules. The common reasons include spammy behaviour, abusive tweets or behaviour or the account’s security being at risk. The President’s Twitter account could fall on the third reason where Twitter will suspend your account until it can be secured to reduce malicious activity. Facebook also does the same thing for users, where they can suspend your account if they find any suspicious or illegal activity.
In both cases you can still deactivate both your Twitter account and Facebook Page manually. However. we should take the Chief of Staff’s word for it regarding the President’s social account.
