Infinix S5

Infinix S5After much teasing, the Infinix S5 is finally available to purchase. Infinix had announced about the Infinix S5 in early October as a successor to the Infinix S4.

The Infinix S5 ramped up its key features and promises to a worthy upgrade either from its predecessor or other budget phones.

Infinix then not only began teasing about the camera-focused Infinix S5 on their social media pages but also encouraging users to begin pre-ordering the device through their Xpark website.

The Infinix S5 rocks an Infinity-O display that features a 6.6″ HD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 90.5% screen to body ratio plus a resolution of 1600 x 720. The display is nearly bezel-less and is only separated by the punch-hole selfie camera to give you that full-screen experience when browsing the web, lazily scrolling through your social media feeds or watching multimedia content either photos and videos.Infinix S5 display

The Infinx S5 also spots a Quetzal design that gives the phone a premium feel. The design is inspired by the Quetzal bird where it mimics the texture of the feather pattern and will be available in three colours including Quetzal Cyan, Nebula Black and Violet.Infinix S5 back

Inside the phone, you get Android 9 Pie and XOS v5.5 Cheetah. A Mediatek Helio P22 chip and PowerVR GE8320 GPU run the phone.

In terms of RAM and Storage is where the lines get drawn. Infinix S5 comes in two versions – a 4GB and 64GB onboard storage plus a 6GB and 128GB onboard storage variants.

The Infinix S5 Lite comes in two versions too – a 4GB and 64GB onboard storage plus a 3GB and 32GB onboard storage variants.

In terms of cameras, the Infinix S5 spots a quad-camera setup that includes a 16MP main camera, 5MP ultrawide, 2MP for depth and a 2MP low-light sensor. For selfies, you get a 32MP front-facing camera.

The Infinix S5 Lite will, however, have a lower resolution screen and a 16MP selfie camera and triple rear camera setup.

For authentication, you get Face Unlock and a rear fingerprint scanner that complements the other logging in methods such as PIN and Pattern.

The Infinix S5  also supports Dual 4G VoLTE – Safaricom and Faiba 4G.

Stay tuned for our full review

Pricing and Availability

The Infinix S5 with the base configuration of 4GB and 64GB onboard storage will go for Ksh 16,499 while the 6GB and 128GB storage will start selling from Ksh 20,999.

The Infinix S5 Lite with 4GB and 64GB onboard storage and the 3GB and 32GB onboard storage variants will begin selling from Ksh 13,899 and Ksh 13,499 respectively.

You can get the phones on Xpark and  Infinix official retail stores. We’ll keep you posted when the Infinix S5 becomes available in other online sites.
