Android 10 has been rolling out to Android phones since September last year and still a small section of Android phones have it.
Huawei phones have received the Android 10 update as a EMUI 10 update for a while now and the Huawei Y7p is the latest Huawei phone to get it in the country.
Yesterday, I got a notification that I can download Android 10 for the Huawei Y7p. The Huawei Y7p was launched by Huawei Kenya back in April this year and it was their first phone in the market without Google Services. I was not expecting this update at all and it was a nice surprise.
The Huawei Y7p EMUI 10 update (10.10.112) was a 3.12 GB and the changelog detailed a number of features to expect from the new update. This includes the update to Android 10, Huawei’s GPU Turbo to improve the smoothness and stability of the system while playing games and more. It also incorporates the Android security patches released in April 2020, which is late, but better than nothing.
When I first used the phone back in April, it had shipped with Android 9.1.1 and had the Android security patches released in February 2020.
The interface is familiar to me since I’ve been using EMUI 10 on my Y9 Prime 2019 since January this year. If this is new to you, lemme give you a rundown: There is the system-wide dark mode which comes native on Android 10; EMUI 10’s settings menu has been reorganized, especially the update menu; the camera app has an updated with a new user interface and swiping up loads the app drawer.
If you have this phone, you can check whether you have received the update by heading over to the update menu or the phone will notify you. It is pretty cool that this phone has received its Android 10 update so we wonder whether it will get Android 11.
