The AfriLabs Annual Gathering is coming back to Nairobi this October, denoting its 10th year as Africa’s largest innovation conference.
The three-day event runs from October 7-9, 2025, bringing together startup founders, investors, policymakers, and tech ecosystem builders under the theme “Africa’s Innovation Future: Policy, Partnerships, and Progress.”
This year’s agenda centers on seven specific tracks designed to address Africa’s most pressing innovation needs:
- Policy, Data & AI in Africa examines how regulatory frameworks can support rather than hinder AI development across the continent. The track will focus on adaptive policies that can drive socio-economic growth through data and AI initiatives.
- Investor & Investment creates direct pathways between African startups and capital providers, emphasizing investments that generate local impact rather than just returns.
- Gender and Inclusion tackles the representation gap in African tech, exploring how innovation can be designed from the ground up to ensure equity and access across social groups.
- Hub Solutions addresses the sustainability challenges facing innovation hubs continent-wide, focusing on scaling operations and creating systems-level change.
- Green and Blue Economy spotlights climate technology and eco-innovation as Africa faces increasing environmental pressures, positioning the continent as a leader in climate-resilient solutions.
- Creative Digital Economy explores how Africa’s cultural assets can generate revenue in digital spaces while addressing ethical concerns around AI’s role in creative industries.
- Makerspaces highlights Africa’s manufacturing potential, examining how local prototypes can transition into globally competitive products.
The gathering goes beyond typical conference programming with masterclasses, interactive exhibitions, and what organizers promise will be significant partnership announcements. The format emphasizes practical solutions over theoretical discussions.
