Infinix Zero 8 64MP quad cameras

Infinix Zero 8 was recently introduced in the country last week and we’ve been playing around with it, taking it through its paces. You can read our unboxing and first impressions review here. We dedicated a separate review for how its six cameras performed as they did not disappoint.

To get you up to speed, Infinix Zero 8 is the company’s latest device in its flagship Zero series and joins its other siblings in the Note and Hot series – the Infinix Note 7 and Infinix Hot 9 launched earlier this year.

It’s worth noting that Infinix didn’t launch the Zero 7 last year – so they brought the big guns with the Zero 8.

Before we get to the cameras, Infinix packed heat with the Zero 8 that comes with a 90Hz refresh rate 6.85″ FullHD+ display, Helio G90T processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. Infinix also included 33W Type-C fast charging for the 4500mAh battery.

In terms of optics, Infinix Zero 8 features a 64MP quad camera setup at the back and 48MP dual punch-hole selfie cameras.

The punchhole cutout accommodates the 48MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera.

The back is home to a total of four cameras housed in a prism camera bump. You get a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor.

In terms of photography, the Infinix Zero 8 comes with 12 modes to play around and that includes the Google Lens. Other modes to try out range from Documents, Panorama, AI cam(default), 64MP mode, Beauty, Bokeh, SuperNight, Video and Slow Motion.

All these modes and the multiple cameras poth for regular shots and selfies make for a versatile camera experience that ensures you are able to take almost any shot and more often than not , the results are very good for sharing on various social platforms.

Unquestionable camera performance

The 64MP primary takes detailed and stunning pictures especially in good lighting like when you’re outdoors now that the weather has recently become warm.

The colours are vidivid and pop – perfect for sharing on social media.

Here are some samples and I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves:

Thanks to the huge sensor, regular shots come with the bokeh effect. The depth sensor helps with subject segmentation when you’re shooting with the Bokeh mode enabled to great that strong blur effect.

You can zoom upto 10X. However, the photos start degrading in quality after 5X zoom.

Most shots turn out well with decent saturation and sharp details. It’s worth noting that dynamic range is a mixed bag with the Infinix Zero 8.

Noise is handled well in lowlight shots. The included night mode improves on them too. The images have good exposure and colour.

For video, we get support for 1080p at 30fps, 720p at 30fps and 480p at 30fps. Super Steady mode is included if you’re planning to shoot and don’t have a tripod for smooth shoting with eye autofocus too.

You can also shoot slow motion videos at 240fps.

There’s also short video mode- they have a TikTok theme to it for sharing on platforms that have Stories such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat or TikTok itself.

There’s a lot to love about the Infinix Zero’s cameras especially the flexibility in the camera experience.

Pricing and Availability

The Infinix Zero 8 is available on Jumia for Ksh 29,999, X-Park(Infinix online site) for Ksh 28,999 and its official retail stores countrywide.

Initiatives Infinix is taking to keep everyone safe including its staff and consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Infinix is requiring its staff to wear masks while attending work for proper protection from the virus.
  • Infinix retail store promoters are also scheduled to change shifts at a desired frequency.
  • The flow of people in Infinix retail stores will be well-controlled to prevent excessive crowding.
  • Infinix has also implemented measures to inform its employees and customers about COVID- 19 prevention tips and keep them informed of the effective measures to stay safe.
  • For deliveries, employees will wear masks and gloves, and couriers will disinfect products with alcohol upon delivery right in front of the customer. Also, body temperatures of relevant personnel will also be consistently reported.

All these safety and health measures are well in place and being executed.
