Infinix Zero 8 Unboxing and First Impressions Review: A Step in the Right Direction
To start us off, the Infinix Zero 8 comes with a total of six cameras.
At the back is a quad camera setup that includes a 64MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro and 2 MP depth sensor.
At the front, we get dual selfie camera in the punch hole cutout at the top left. The two consist of a 48MP main and 8MP ultra-wide camera.
We’ll be testing the Zero 8’s camera performance so stay tuned for that and our full review too.
The 6.85″ display is huge and Infinix put a 90Hz refresh rate screen with a 1080p resolution.
90Hz has become the standard for recent midrange smartphones being launched in Kenya and Infinix Zero 8 joins the likes of the recently launched TECNO Camon 16 Premier and realme 6.
It’s worth noting that the screen is Gorilla Glass protected.
Infinix Zero 8 finally gets fast charging. You get a huge 4500mAh battery that recharges via Type-C 33W fast charging.
Under the hood is a Helio G90T processor and Mali-G76 MC4 GPU coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
Running the device is Android 10 and XOS Dolphin 7.0.
Partnership with Sally Karago
Infinix also partnered with Sally Karago, an internationally acclaimed and prominent Kenyan designer.
Inspired by the Turkana culture, Sally’s fashion collection not only features the main colours of the Infinix brand, which are green, black and white but also the diamond-shaped elements which are the main design concept for the Zero 8 smartphone.
Sally’s garments that feature the diamond-shaped elements, as well as ethnic fabrics that resonate with the Infinix brand will be worn by three celebrities currently working with Infinix and Infinix sales representatives.
This partnership with a high-end designer is geared towards raising the Infinix’s brand position and perception in the market with Infinix Zero 8, its high-end phone.
This is also part of a broader push to combine tech with fashion to create products that are a fusion of design and innovation.
“Infinix will continue to play its key role in developing devices that meet the market needs as well as the technology of the day that endear users to the future lifestyle aspirations,” said Mike Zhang, Infinix Kenya Brand Manager.
According to the company, Infinix is taking a step to be more premium and able to compete and be the face of this new direction as a fashion-conscious brand.
This direction is very much in tandem with the expected Infinix’s target customers, whose lifestyle could be described as image and fashion-conscious and trendy, with a taste for high-end gadgets.
