Infinix has launched the Smart 20 in Kenya, and it comes with a clear focus on three things: calls that work in noisy environments, a body that can survive serious drops, and a battery that gets through a full day.
At less than KES 13,000 for the base model, it sits in a budget segment where most phones cut corners on at least one of these. The Smart 20 tries not to.
Pure Voice Calls
Anyone who has tried to have a phone conversation in a busy market, on a matatu, or along a noisy street knows how quickly background noise kills a call.
The Smart 20 addresses this with a feature called “Pure Voice Calls,” powered by Voiceprint Noise Reduction technology. It works across three modes.
Standard NC handles continuous background sounds like fans or air conditioners. Smart NC targets irregular, unpredictable noise like keyboard tapping or rain on a roof.
Pure Voice Call goes further, as once you record a 30-second voice sample, the phone learns your specific voice and filters out everything else on calls, including other people talking nearby.
The feature works across regular phone calls, internet calls, and even when using an earpiece or speaker. For someone who runs a business from their phone or spends a lot of time coordinating on calls from noisy environments, this will come in handy.

Military-Grade Durability
The Smart 20 carries a military-grade durability certification, which means it has been put through standardized drop, pressure, and temperature testing.
The phone survived 25,000 repeated drop tests in Infinix’s labs and is rated to withstand falls from up to 1.5 meters onto hard surfaces without cracking or failing. That covers most real-life accidental drops.
The screen also responds to wet and oily touches, so it keeps working in the rain or when your hands are not dry. On top of that, the IP64 rating protects against dust and water splashes, making it reliable in outdoor and physically demanding work environments.
Despite all of this, the phone is only 7.7mm thick, with a composite back and rounded corners that keep it comfortable to hold.
Power Marathon Battery
The Smart 20 runs on a 5200mAh battery, and Infinix calls this the Power Marathon, specifically because it is designed to go the distance rather than just hit a high number on a spec sheet.
The more telling detail is what happens when the phone gets critically low. At just 5% battery, it still delivers up to 2 hours of continuous calling or up to 24 hours on standby.
Beyond that, the phone supports 15W charging and also has 5W reverse charging, so you can use it to top up another device if needed. The battery sits inside a 7.7mm slim body, which is impressive given that phones with large batteries usually end up noticeably thick.

Screen and Performance
The display is a 6.78-inch punch-hole screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is the highest refresh rate in its price category when compared against direct competitors like the Vivo Y30 (60Hz), Realme Note 70, and Samsung A07 (both 90Hz).
The screen peaks at 700 nits of brightness, making it visible in direct sunlight. The refresh rate adapts automatically between 45Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz depending on what you are doing, which saves battery during less demanding tasks.
Inside the frame, the phone runs on a MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate octa-core processor, which Infinix says maintains smooth performance for up to 48 months of use, and it ships with Android 16, the latest version of Android.
UltraLink and Connectivity
One feature worth knowing about is UltraLink Free Call. Using a Bluetooth-based connection, it lets two Smart 20 users communicate via calls, text messages, voice messages, and photos at distances of up to 1km, even with no network signal.
It works in places like underground parking lots, remote outdoor areas, or anywhere network coverage drops out. The contact names from your address book show up on the UltraLink interface, so it functions like a regular call rather than a walkie-talkie setup.
AI Features
The Smart 20 comes with Infinix’s AI assistant Folax 5.0, accessible by long-pressing the power button.

It includes AI Writing for drafting messages and documents; a One-Tap Query for asking questions about what is on your screen; Song Recognition that identifies tracks without needing a separate app; a Speaker Cleaner function that clears out dust or water from the speaker grille; and Scan-to-Doc for scanning physical documents on the go.
The phone also has an IR blaster, meaning it can be used as a remote control for TVs and air conditioners.
Flash Call
You might not have heard of it yet, but the Smart 20 also supports Flash Call, a feature available in Kenya that lets you make a call that rings and disconnects before the other person picks up, effectively sending a signal without using airtime.

It also supports Flash Message for text-based signals between users on the same carrier.
