OPPO Reno5 Now Available in Kenya

OPPO Reno5 was launched in the Kenyan market early last week. This is the company’s latest midrange smartphone in the country that succeeds the OPPO Reno4 launched late last year.

After launch, the OPPO Reno5 went into a pre-order period that ended yesterday. Pre-orders were available on all OPPO retail stores countrywide and in online retail stores including Jumia, Kilimall and Masoko.

OPPO Reno5 Camera Performance Review: More is Better

The Pre-order bundle included OPPO’s W11 wireless earbuds, a branded bluetooth speaker, branded backpack and six month screen protection cover.

The OPPO Reno5 is now available for purchase on all OPPO retail stores countrywide and in online retail stores including Jumia, Kilimall and Masoko.

OPPO Reno 5 comes with a 6.43″ AMOLED display with 90HZ refresh rate and a punch-hole cutout for the 44MP selfie camera.

The screen features Full HD+ display at a resolution of 1080 by 2400 pixels with an aspect ratio of 20:9(409 ppi) and an 85.6% screen to body ratio.

The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

OPPO Reno5 First Impressions Review: Striking a Perfect Balance

OPPO Reno 5 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor and Adreno 618 GPU and runs on Android 11 and ColorOS 11.1.

Android 11 features including Nearby Share, Notifications History, Media controls, Conversation and Bubbles, Power Button Menu, New Emojis, Temporary Permissions, ability to pin apps in the share menu and scheduled dark mode.

ColorOS 11.1 comes with rich UI customization options including improved Dark Mode settings including Enhanced, Medium, and Gentle.

You also get the option to adjust icons and wallpapers to dark mode. Third-party apps that don’t natively support dark mode will follow the system wide selected dark mode.

We also get a revamped OPPO Relax 2.0 that now includes Sound Mix, the three finger screenshot now lets you translate text on screenshot thanks to OPPO’s partnership with Google Lens, Flexdrop for multitasking,

Private System lets you create a copy of your current system that is protected by password or fingerprint.

We also have an upgraded Game Space feature

Other features ColorOS 11 include perfomance improvements in AI App Preloading, Hyper Boost 3.0, the support for third-party camera app sto acces video HDR.

For Biometrics, we have an improved and relatively faster in-display fingerprint and face unlock.

OPPO Reno 5 ships with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

OPPO Reno 5 is dual Sim with support for two nano-SIM cards and slot for microSD card.

Also included is AI-enhanced smart sensor for coveninet touch free controls.

For optics, OPPO Reno 5 have 44MP punchole selfie camera. For the primary setup, we have a 64MP main rear camera, an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth and 2MP macro sensor.

OPPO Reno 5F has a 32MP punchhole selfie camera and 48MP main rear camera and similar complementary cameras as its bigger sibling.

OPPO has included innovative imaging features such as AI Highlight Video that fuses the power Ultra Night Video and LiveHDR. AI Highlight Video uses an AI algorithm to recognize light levels, and then applies a corresponding solution to make every video clear and vibrant.

OPPO also features Dual-view Video where both front and rear cameras record what’s happening and how you’re reacting at the same time. With both angles on camera, your videos can capture all the excitement of your interactions.

We have AI Color Portrait an in this distinctive video mode, color keeps all eyes on your subject as they move through black-and-white scenery.

Other features include Monochrome Video, Soloop Smart Video Editor, Night Flare Portrait, Ultra-clear 108MP Image, AI Scene Enhancement, AI Mixed Portrait and Slo-Mo.

Powering the OPPO Reno 5 is a 4300mAh battery and 50W fast charging via aType-C port that can charge the phone’s battery from 0% to up to 80% within 31 minutes and charge the device to up to 100% in just 48 minutes.

This is an improvement over the Reno 4 that came with a 4015mAh battery and 30W fast charging.

We also get a headphone jack. Wired earphones, power brick and charging cable are included in the box too.

OPPO Reno 5 starts selling from Ksh 41,999.
