Huawei FreeBuds 4

After launching the Huawei FreeBuds 4i in Kenya early this year, the tech company has announced its bigger sibling – the Huawei FreeBuds 4 in the country.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 sport open-fit design and active noise cancellation plus also delivering studio-quality sound as well as all-day comfort.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 is also compatible with different operating systems including Android and iOS. Users can download the HUAWEI AI Life app to adjust settings or perform various controls such as wear detection, quick control, status query, noise cancellation and device management.

Upgraded with a new Open-fit ANC 2.0 technology, the earbuds feature improvements at the hardware and software level that take open-fit, comfortable noise cancellation to new levels.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 uses a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) composite diaphragm that supports a frequency range of up to 40 kHz to deliver high-resolution sound resulting in no major quality loss and trebles that sounds richer and fuller.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 is equipped with a 14.3mm dynamic driver that helps produce greater and more impressive bass sounds.

In terms of bass performance, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 adopt a newly upgraded bass enhancement engine, bass tube and motherboard to form an independently sealed sound cavity.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 features Adaptive Ear Matching (AEM) technology in open-fit earbuds for the first time. By automatically detecting the user’s ear shape and wearing condition, Huawei FreeBuds 4 can intelligently optimise the audio effect that results in consistent and high-resolution audio quality regardless of the wearing situation.

Utilising a high-sensitivity microphone, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 can record high-fidelity sound supporting a sample rate of up to 48 kHz that can help retain rich audio details. Using the Huawei AI Life app, users can record surrounding sound with ease as well as Voice Mode to enhance voice pick and reduce environmental noise.

Huawei FreeBuds 4 has adopted the dual-microphone hybrid denoising technology that helps improve noise cancellation. These microphones can help accurately pick up ambient noise and also features a new internal structure that can help avoid wind noise interference as well as improving sound pickup sensitivity for the internal microphone. This innovation alone can allow the earbuds to cancel out up to 25 dB of noise when noise cancellation is turned on.

Wearing comfort is the key to ensuring an optimal user experience when using the earbuds. It also brings three enhancements to its overall curvature for a better fit. These string of optimisations not only enables a more pleasant wearing experience and increased rigidity, but it
also allows for strengthened ANC performance on the earbuds.

Users who love to play first-person shooting games (FPS) will also enjoy the Huawei FreeBuds 4 thanks to Low Latency Mode. This mode uses a new game audio coding that can achieve delay of 150ms in-game and can go as low as 90ms when the shooting action and sound are in sync.

The earbuds also feature intuitive controls for playback and calls 3:

  • Tap twice on the stem of the Huawei FreeBuds 4 to answer/reject a call, play/pause music, play previous/next song and enable voice assistant.
  • Users can also swipe up and down the stem of the earbuds to control the volume and lastly a long press with enable/disable noise cancellation.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 also supports dual device connections 4 on any Huawei smartphone, tablet, PC, smartwatch or smart display, or any other smart devices running Android, iOS or Windows. Any two devices can be connected to the Huawei FreeBuds 4 simultaneously, which allows users to enjoy their favourite music or video without missing any calls. When a call comes in, the content will be automatically paused and seamlessly switched to the call.

Pricing and Availability

Huawei FreeBuds 4 earbuds will be retailing at Kshs 17,999 in all retail stores across the country including Huawei’s Experience Stores at Yaya Center, TRM, Sarit Center and the Village Market.

The Huawei Freebuds 4 will also be available in Safaricom outlets and Masoko too.

Each purchase of the Huawei FreeBuds 4 comes with a free Huawei Band 4.
