WhatsApp Flows is a new feature coming to WhatsApp Business. The feature will enable customers and businesses to do more than chat without leaving the Meta-owned app.
Meta’s Head of WhatsApp Will Cathcart posted about flows and said:
”For everyone that chats with WhatsApp businesses on, we’ve got lots of great improvements coming, including a way for businesses to build richer in-chat experiences that will make it easier to do things like book an appointment or buy a ticket, all within the app.”
More and more, users prefer to complete a process without leaving a platform. Business conversations often involve a set of other relevant activities. Hence, it makes a lot of sense to capture all these activities on one platform. The introduction of flows seeks to make business interactions easier.
WhatsApp Business is looking to enable users to perform the following actions:
- Book appointments
- Book Tickets
- Fill and submit forms
- Sign up for events and offers
It is not known the extent WhatsApp will go in designing flows and the number of new integrations. Further, the platform has not set a timeline for the introduction of the new feature.
WhatsApp for iPad Coming
Flows are not the only new thing coming to WhatsApp. Currently, there is no WhatsApp iOS app for iPad. As such, iPad users have been forced to use the web version on the device.
All that is set to change as a native iPad WhatsApp is in development. The iPad WhatsApp app is currently only accessible to beta testers. WhatsApp for the iPad gives users the chance to use the app independently of their phones. In addition, the app syncs messages with other devices the user has WhatsApp on.
It appears the status updates feature and live location functionality are not available in the released beta version. However, there is no cause to worry as apps in the beta phase are often incomplete.
In other news, WhatsApp channels are now fully available in over 180 countries. Users who do not have it should make sure they update WhatsApp to gain access.
