The National Treasury and Economic Planning CS, Njuguna Ndung’u, has announced new charges for the eCitizen Digital Payments Platform.
eCitizen is a digital platform that gives Kenyans access to various Government services online. By using the eCitizen Digital Payments Platform, citizens and all persons generally can access and pay for over 14,000 Government Services available on the platform. To enable digital payments, the platform is integrated with various payment channels such as mobile money, electronic bank payments, and debit/credit cards.
“The eCitizen.go.ke shall charge a nominal administrative fee per transaction,” reads the Gazette Notice number 1422 in part.
Here are the new charges as per the Gazette Notice:

Per the notice, the charges take effect immediately and apply to all services on the platform.
The Notice further states, “The pro-rated charges will be applicable to all services unless otherwise waived by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning.”
