Xiaomi Kenya has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 13 series in the country.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Series succeeds the Redmi Note 12 series launched last year.

Xiaomi Redmi Note lineup is the company’s most popular smartphones having sold over 338 million units worldwide.

Xiaomi is bringing the three models in the Note 13 series – base versions, Pro and Pro+ models. All three come with new features and a few upgrades over their predecessors including better chipsets, new design, new cameras and brighter displays.

Redmi Note 13

Redmi 13 comes in both 4G and 5G versions sporting Snapdragon 685 and Dimensity 6080 chipsets respectively. They have a few more differences such as the 4G version having a more brighter screen at 1800 nits while the 5G unit has 1000 nits. The 5G version has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 while the 4G version has Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The 4G version has an under-display fingerprint reader while the 5G version has a side-mounted one. The rest of the features are similar.

The cameras get upgraded from the 48MP main of the Note 12 to the 108MP primary of the Note 13 series – both the 4G and 5G versions. the other two cameras are an 8MP ultrawide and A 2MP depth sensor. Video recording is capped at 1080p 30fps.

The selfie camera is a 16MP front-facing camera that records at 1080p 30fps as well.Both units ship with 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Colour options include Prism Gold, Ocean Teal, Graphite Black and Arctic White for the 4G version while the 5G version comes in Midnight Black, Ice Bue, Ocean Sunset and Mint Green.

Redmi Note 13 has IP54 ingress protection and a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen(1B colours) with 120Hz refresh rate. They boot up Android 13 and MIUI 14 which is disappointing as Android 14 is the latest Android version.

They come with RAM starting at 6GB and storage starting at 128GB with the option to expand with an external microSD card.

Both units ship with 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Redmi Note 13 Pro

The Pro gets a new processor – the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 which is relatively powerful compared to the Dimensity 1080 chipset of its predecessors.

It has Android 13 and MIU 14.

RAM starts at 8GB going all the way to 16GB and storage starts at 128GB going all the way to 512GB. There’s no slot for an external microSD card.

Redmi Note 13 Pro comes with IP54 ingress protection, a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 1800 nits peak brightness over its predecessor’s 900 nits. The resolution has been upped to 1220 by 2712 pixels over the 1080 by 2400 pixel of the Note 12 Pro.

It’s worth mentioning that the Note 13 Pro screen is 12-bit which means it supports 68B colours as opposed to the 10-bit screen of the Note 12 Pro that can show up to 1B colours.

The screen gets better protection as its sports Gorilla Glass Victus over Gorilla Glass 5 of the 12 Pro.

Battery capacity is increased from a 5000mAh battery to a 5100mAh battery with the same 67W fast charging.

The 13 Pro has a new 200MP setup which is an upgrade over the 50MP from the 12 Pro. They both have OIS support. The other two cameras are an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro. The rear cameras support video recording up to 4K 30fps.

The selfie camera is a 16MP front-facing camera which can shoot 1080p video.

Other features include stereo speakers and now an under-display fingerprint reader instead of the side-mounted fingerprint reader of the 12 Pro.

Battery capacity is increased from a 5000mAh battery to a 5100mAh battery with the same 67W fast charging.

Colour options include Arctic White, Midnight Black, Ocean Teal and Aurora Purple(Coral Purple).

Redmi Note 13 Pro+ comes with Dimensity 7200 Ultra which is faster than the Dimensity 1080 from last year. RAM starts at 8GB going all the ay to 16GB with storage starting from 256GB up to 512GB which is UFS 3.1 over the UFS 2.2 of its predecessor.

It boots up Android 13 and MIUI 14.

The Pro Plus version has a 12-bit 6.67-inch screen that now supports 68B colours instead of the 10-bit screen of the Note 12 Pro+. It is brighter at 1800 nits compared to 900 nits of the predecessor.

It is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, an upgrade over the Gorilla Glass 5.

It gets better ingress protection rated at IP68 over IP53.

The camera setup stays the same with the 200MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro with video recording capped at 4K 24/30fps while selfies are taken care of by the 16MP front-facing camera that supports 1080p video recording.

It comes with a 5000mAh battery and 120W fast charging.

Colour options range from Camo Green, Midnight Black, Moonlight White, Fusion Purple and Aurora Purple.

Pricing Details

Here’s how Xiaomi has priced the Redmi Note 13 series in the countey:

  • Redmi Note 13: Ksh 27,499(6GB RAM+ 128GB storage)
  • Redmi Note 13 Pro: Ksh 41,999(8GB RAM + 256GB storage)
  • Redmi Note 13 Pro+: Ksh 73,999 (12GB RAM +512GB storage)

Xiaomi is offering 24+1 months warranty and 6 months screen warranty.

The phones are available at official Xiaomi stores, partner retail stores, Jumia, Ropem and Kilimall.
