When it comes to convenience, Audi is among the best brands in the automobile market, and that’s not about to change any time soon. The German automaker has announced it’s bringing ChatGPT along for the ride in millions of its vehicles.
Starting this July, Audi is rolling out ChatGPT integration to two million cars. This includes models from 2021 onward, as long as they’re fitted with the MIB 3 infotainment system.
So, what can this AI co-pilot do for you? Well, controlling your AC, navigation, and infotainment systems will be a voice command away. No more fumbling with knobs and buttons while trying to keep your eyes on the road. Just say, “Hey Audi, crank up the AC,” and voila!
In addition to that, Audi’s AI assistant will also be ready to tackle your burning questions about… well, anything. Wondering about the correct tire pressure? Ask away. Need to settle a bet about who won the 1994 World Cup? Your car’s got you covered. Just don’t ask it for relationship advice; that’s still best left to your human friends.
Now, we know what you’re thinking. “Great, another AI that’s going to eavesdrop on my conversations and sell my data to the highest bidder.” However, Audi swears it’s taking privacy seriously. It claims all your chats will be deleted, and ChatGPT won’t have access to any of your vehicle data.
Besides the end-user experience, Audi is also implementing AI in its manufacturing process. This includes quality control, checking spot welds, detecting cracks – basically all the works.
For those of you with newer Audi models or planning to buy one soon, you’ll be getting an even fancier version of this AI upgrade. Future models will be integrated with Cerence Chat Pro, which Audi says will “enhance the Audi in-car assistant with an unmatched level of intelligence.”
